So, why is this blog titled "Freedom, Slavery and in Between"? right now i am working on a power point about freedom and would like to iron out some of the questions i have regarding the nature of freedom. For example, why is the USA considered the most free country in the world? What in it's most basic for is freedom? And how is that explicable for today? Well i recently looked up the definition of freedom and found it very interesting. Websters 1828 had a very interesting definition for freedom. Freedom as it relates to Government: not enslaved; not in a state of vassalage or dependence. Freedom: A state of exemption from the power or control of another; liberty; Freedom is personal, civil, political, and religious. In the first definition we see that freedom relating to government means that we are not enslaved, or vassalage. A vassal back in the day of nights a kings was someone who was a tenant and worked their lords land. They had to go to battle if the lord wanted them. Essentially, they were slaves not in name but action to their lord. I haft to go now. More will come later.

  1. And according to "Uncle Eric" (Richard J. Mayberry) of the "Whatever Happened to Penny Candy" and other Gov/Econ books:

    Liberty = God-given right

    Freedom = Something the gov't can take away at any time.
